Virtual Lawyers in Second Life

CnnMoney.com has posted a list of what they consider to be hot, new careers. Things like Robot Programmer, Information Engineer, and surprisingly: Second Life Lawyer. SL is definitely a melting pot of intellectual rights and digital copyright issues, so I suppose this makes sense.

Count Stevan Lieberman among the virtual world’s earning elite. Instead of trying to practice purely virtual law–which few if any lawyers have turned into real money–Lieberman has taken a hybrid approach, using Second Life as a meet-and-greet area for new clients, who then take their real-world legal needs offline. And since he took in $7,000 in fees in the first two weeks after hanging up his virtual shingle, he’s optimistic: “I fully expect to keep getting more business this way.”

I just hope that the virtual world doesn’t become as litigious as the United States, where it seems that taking legal action has replaced using common sense.

SlimGirlFat was the first musician I met in SL. She even performed at the Grand Opening of my New World Gallery, which is still one of my favorite SL memories. Nowadays she runs the Menorca Sim, which is certainly one of the best places in SL to enjoy a live show.

Today I happened upon the Hummingbird Cafe’s Open Mic event. Every Thursday at 4pm you can get an earful music - a seemingly endless stream of fantastic live acts. Tonight there were no less than 10 acts waiting to share their music! Def. a great place to go if you are looking to discover new SL musicians - or just want to have some fun in a big crowd of positive music lovers.
