Plop down some hand-drawn sculpties

I just stumbled across this sculpty creation tool called PloppSL. It’s a funky little drawing program that sort of pumps up your flat, 2D image into a 3D object. Then you can export your creation to Second Life’s Sculpted Prim format – both the sculptmap file and the texture. It’s a neat effect and could be used to create some cool cartoony, organic style sculpties.

This free sotware is for Windows computers. It’s a bit skimpy on documentation and rough around the edges, but it should only take you a few minutes to figure out what all the buttons do. You can also create your image in another program then import it into PloppSL to be 3D-ified. Very cool idea. After a  bit of experimentation it’s really just like drawing in a coloring book.

HI Santiago. Everything I know about PloppSL is in the tutorial video I made for it. You can watch it here:

hello there
ploppsl seems to be a very funny software i installed and used to do a logo but i had a problem with the sculpted texture… ploppsl generated me a texture that cant be exploited because the object appears in sl as an anarchik scructur. the texture looks like a symetric tile i think my pc has a trouble in generating this is someone has the same problem and /or a solution?

Wow – I love this program… my artistic skills aren’t great and this is very basic – but with a little practise I could be making really great blobs!!!

Seriously though… I think with a little creativity this is a lovely simple to use program to create sculpties.

Thanks for the heads up :)
