Here’s an interesting app for those of you who sometimes need to access SL on a slow/old computer. OMVViewer-light will let you log into SL (and opensim) without loading all the 3D objects and textures. You can chat, teleport, search,  and even access your inventory. Looks like it works on Windows and Linux, too. Thanks to Opensource Obscure for the link.

Hi Duncan,

Lucky i found your question here!

What trouble are you having? any errors etc? there are two ways to grab it. one via the .net click once system and the other by just downloading the latest .zip file from the downloads page. You should be able to just unzip it and run it directly from there. But don’t forget the Gtk# package first!

Currently its not working on 64bit Windows. But works on 32/64bit linux and 32bit Windows XP and Vista both tested ok.

Me too. About to give up installing lates omvviewer on Vista.
Keeps refusing to load application, saying that component requisites are missing.
Despite my starting off by installing Gtk# runtime from the given link. When that failed via the .net installer, I reinstalled .NET Framework 2.0 (x86). Still failed.
Changed tack and tried the zip download. Failed in the same way.

Any chance any of you having install problems on vista can open a jira issue on jira.byteme.org.uk (omvl project) and attach a screen shot or two of the exact error messages. I would very much like to get to the bottom of the vista problems.

Thanks
