This video from Opensource Obscure (@oobscure) gets me pumped for upcoming features in SL – shadows and projected videos. All sorts of possibilities with these techniques….

Blast from the Past
Thanks to Dusan Writer for pointing out this CNN story about one of SL’s well respected live musicians. So nice to see some real, positive coverage of SL popping into the mainstream Media.
Thanks to Dusan Writer for pointing out this bit of news from Venture Beat.
“Kingdon said Second Life residents will be able to receive real world calls in the virtual world in a service dubbed AvaLine. The company’s Dial an Avatar function assigns residents of Second Life a phone number that enables friends to call from a landline, cell phone, or VOIP application. The service is available as a beta test today and will launch formally by the end of the second quarter.”
I’m terribly behind on answering comments and suggestions. Better late than never. :)
“… I convert it with sculpty maker, upload it, and it comes out in world looking like a cylinder that has the curve, and the rest of it just looks droopy and squishy.” – Venom
Maybe the Sculpty Stitching type is set wrong in SL. There are several ways to ‘wrap’ the mesh for a sculpty. Spheres, Plane, Torus, Cylinder. Look for that option under where you place the sculptmap image in the editing toolbox.
“Im having problems with a project that has three Torus as subtools, after merging with SubTool Master and export them Sculpty Maker creates scultpy maps that are wrong, i can do this with other objects but the torus, any ideas?” - Elf
Also – With the newest versions of Sculpty Maker and zSculpty you no longer need to merge the subtools before converting. It’ll convert each subtool individually.
“Thank you for all your Vidoes you have posted here. I learned so much from your tutorials and for me you live the real true Spirit of Second Life.” – Cori
Thank you Corina. It’s great to know that people continue to find these videos useful. One good thing about making a vid vs giving a live class.

wow – it’s been nearly 3 months since I have done anything here at Shiny Life. (o_O) Crazy how time can get away from ya when you’re busy.
I’m going to spend the next few days doing my best to get caught up here. I know there are a lot of questions and comments that need answers and I’ll get to as many of them as I can. All sorts of news and happenings in SL recently, too. I picked a busy time to take a sabbatical. :)
